Parent Involvement
We welcome you to be involved in your child's education by being in partnership with us. Showing an interest in your child’s education, setting high expectations for achievement and letting your child know you believe in his or her abilities sets a positive context for growth and achievement. In view of this, we invite you to be a volunteer in the school. In order to do this, however, it is essential that you be in full compliance by completing the following four steps as mandated by the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
Diocesan Safe Environment Policy
Teachers, coaches and assistants, cafeteria helpers, monitors, chaperones and adults who volunteer with children at St. Therese are required to have the following clearances.
STEP 1: Complete the online application at www.diopitt.org. The access code is protect. The Nation Wide Criminal Record Clearance will automatically be generated with this registration. Notify the school office when the registration is complete.
Step 2: The Criminal Record Clearance and the Child Abuse Clearance Application will be sent to you when you notify us about your completed registration. Mail both to: Childline and Abuse Registry, Department of Public Welfare, Box 8170, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8170.
Step 3: Read The Code of Pastoral Conduct and sign an acknowledgement of receipt of the Code and send it to the office.
Step 4: Attend a Protecting God’s Children Seminar.
This seminar is offered at parishes throughout the diocese. A complete list of sessions is available on the diocesan website at www.diopitt.org.
